Have you ever wondered what it would be a TV director? So so that you could control that you see in the screen (from which camera the signal comes)? Now YouTube experiments with letting viewers choose multiple camera angles. These multi-angle videos are only an experiment right now and there’s only one video that actually showcases this feature so far – head over to Madilyn Bailey’s YouTube channel to see it.
A selection of alternative angles are displayed to the right of the video and change instantly when one is selected (you can also use keyboard to select camera number). YouTube has been testing support for up to six cameras for some time, but only for live events. This new YouTube video format is going to be tested by select performers.
Videos where you can change the camera angle while viewing is not a new invention, it has been tried earlier. For example some DVDs use multi-angles feature. And YouTube is not the first video site that is trying this – there have been multiple startups that focused on nothing else but developing similar features. YouTube might have better change in getting this to wide use than any small start-up.
