We’re already seeing many new cars with driver-assist features. Many companies are working hard to bring fully autonomous cars to the market quicly.
According to the Brookings Institute, one-quarter of all cars will be autonomous by 2040, and IHS predicts all cars will be autonomous after 2050. Those are conservative estimates.
These changes will impact the driving experience. The battle over the driving experience heats. And it very much software driven.
New cars today already contain an average of 100 million lines of code.
This is going to be an interesting battle to watch in the coming years, as cars essentially become software with four wheels attached.
