Star Wars Day was unofficially observed for decades until 2019, when California lawmakers voted to declare May 4 Star Wars Day in recognition of Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge opening.
The Star Wars the franchise began in 1977.The influence of George Lucas’ Star Wars on pop culture is undeniable. Star Wars remains one of the most financially successful films of all time.
The release date of the original Star Wars movie, May 25, 1977, is celebrated by some as Geek Pride Day.
