Many Sony audio products are not very good. Sony makes very good
quality picture tubes, but in consumer audio it is not in it's gratest.
They have some innovative products, but the quality is something
from bad to average, nothing more. Sony is a well known brand name,
under which they sell some good stuff, but lot's of crap which does
not meet the specifications given.

Sometime manufacturers measure their power ratings in a nonstandard
way which does not correspornd real situations and is not comparable to
other manufacturers. They might tell you the watt rating which the
amplifier will give ideally for very short time at horrible distortion
levels to some load different to the impedance of real speakers.
And usually they print about three times the real value to
their brochures. I have seen many amplifiers, which can't even
take that amount of power they claim to give (fuse is rated for less
power) and amplifiers are far from being ideal.

Those 1100W labels in small amplifiers are just salespeople
cheating buyers. A real 1100W amplifier will need very good
cooling systems, usually very large heatsinks and/or cooling
fan. And they are weigh really much because over 1000W
transformer needed for that amplifier will weight many kilograms.
If you look at 1000W amplifier, you will see that connectors,
cooling, power cable etc. are designed to handle considerable
amounts of power.

DENON makes good amplifiers and they have the performance the
manufactuters claims. This has been shown in many test which
DENON amplifiers have won.

I have studied and done electronics design. I use and setup
all kinds of audio/video system quite often. I can not be
easily cheated with all kinds of electronics marketing lies.
