Ny recommendation is that do not use unshielded twisted pair
copper wire for unbalanced audio interconnectins. It is
not a suitable cable type for this. Connecting unshielded
twisted pair (UTP) cable to unbalanced interfaces on the system
created a cable systems which gives quite poor outside noise
rejection (humming, RFI etc.).

Unshielded twisted pair is very suitable cable to carry
balanced signals (balanced audio, 10/100Base-T Ethernet,
telephone, etc.), but is far from optimal for unbalanced
signals (like home hifi audio interfaces with RCA conndctors).
To properly transfer unbalanced signal over UTP the
signals need to be balanced (there are baluns for this).

If you are carrying unbalanced audio signals throuhg some
short distances, I recommend you to use a cable with
coaxial construction (typical shielded audio cable)
or use shielded twisted pair cabling.
