If your cable modem is a card which fits inside the PC as a
card which is plugged to PCI bus, then there is no way to
connect it to your computer through USB.

If it is an external box which has an USB plug in it, then
plug it to the USB connector on your computer and get the
necessary drivers which use the USB connection
(I have not seen cable modems which utilize USB yet).

The cable modem (Motorola) I use plugs to the Ethernet card on
my computer. It can beuse with any Ethernet card, no matter if
that card is plugged to ISA, PCI, USB or integrated to motherboard.
And no matter which operating system I use as long as it supports
my Ethernet card and TCP/IP protocol.

What you have might vary between the cable modem service
provider and the technology they use (there are many different
cable modem systems in use).
