OK. So they designed the equipment in s such way that it is safe to
operate without ground (=double insulation) but provided a ground
connection. In this case removing the ground sounds like an usable idea.

In an equipment which is designed to be safe to operate without ground
(=double insulated construction) installing the connector on the
"wrong way" is not more hazard than removing the gound in the
same equipment.
For example many countries around Europe use SCHUKO connector, which
is a grounded power outlet where the connector can be fitted to
the connector in two ways. And practically all small non grounded
equipment use an europlug mains connector which cna be plugged to
most outlets around Europe. And in every place it can be plugged,
it can be plugged in in two ways.
