Are you really 100% sure that the chassis of the turntable is grounded to the amplifier chassis? Not only by th screen i the signal cables, but by a separate wire?

Old stereo Reciever Hum

So I have this old panasonic stereo receiver that I love and I got it out of my basement at home this week and brought it to my house. I set it up and was playing records on it. I noticed the left channel wasn't working properly so I plugged the left speaker into the right remote channel. After this my stereo started humming and now all it will do is hum, no music. I've tried different grounding solutions and I can't seem to fix it. Help!
