There is not much product description on the web page, but the function and specifications of this
are pretty similar to this http://www.epanorama.net/phpBB3/viewtop ... 12&t=13001
"Cost efficient and convenient method for connecting shielded BNC devices using unshielded UTP cables"
"Use cheaply available unshielded cable instead of expensive shielded cables"
My comments:
This product does what it promises to do.
It converts the video signal into format that can be transported through unshielded twisted pair wiring.
I did some testing with 10 meters of UTP wiring (some cheap telephone/alarm cable with no CAT rating) and video from a small color video camera (PAL) to a small video monitor.
The video quality was good.
This balun does what it promises well and the price is cheap.
Small size video balun that seems to work well.
Screws can be tightened with "flat" or "crosshead" screwdriver which is a plus.
Some lab tests:
This unit is in case that could not be opened without damaging the device, so I tried not to open it with force.
I did some testing how well the balancing works. It worked well. I could even short circuit one of the output contacts + or - to signal ground without problems for the signal (I did tests with short cable only).
It seems that this device does some impedance matching in the unit... The RLC meter revealed that there would be some capacitor in it maybe part of impedance matching circuitry.
