need any new ideas [remote control project]

i'm searching for any idea about new project, to remote control by pc, so if you sugest any thing useful, i'll conseder your opinion..

[i work with: serial ports, parallel ports, ir, plc, modem....VB, Delphi. matlab]

i worked before on virtual reality technology, do you thing i could use it in any usefull control system?

i used to treat with parallel port to control motor mvt. or light controling using delphi, now i intend to treat with something wireless ( radio or IR ..)so i was asking about the posibility to get my hands on making such a thing, and the hard thing is to make the whole circuit my self every part of it...

i know that i should be more specific in asking such a help, but till now i haven't made up my mind on a specific project...i'm looking for an idea to begin searching about its posibility
