Hello

I have Compaq P700 trinitron monitor. There's some problem with picture.

Dark object create some shadows to right on light background. I check videocable, but it is in good condition. I tested this monitor on another pc with same problem. When I display monitor OSD menu, menu is clear without shadow problem. Where can be problem?

There is service manual:

Monitor problems

I woudl quess some aging electrolytic capacitor somewhere possibly on power supply related circuitry. I have seen quite similar problems caused by poor power supply regulation on some old televisions.

Problem resolved. There are bad capacitators 1 x 470uF, 4 x 47uF on the board "A" (connected to monitor tube). Monitor now work fine.

Hi,

Can you tell me how you trace down the defective components? I have a KDS Trinitron, it has over brightness issue, and I can't figure out what the problem is. Turn the brightness setting in menu down to "0" screen is still too bright.
