I would like to know an infra-red transmitter and receiver circuit that uses a microcontroller. It can be any microcontroller. I'm trying to have both the receiver and transmitter on the same circuit. Is it possible? Please help me? I previously did an infra-red transmitter and receiver without a microcontroller.

An IR transmitter and receiver are normally use to transfer data from point A to point B which are physically separated.

You ask if they can be on the same circuit. Does that mean on the same board? If so why do you need the IR link?

and I think you want to have a safety beam products.
If on the same controller ,that is more stronger and more safety,
If without MCU controller,that is easy to be interruped by other IR source.
