plz guide me for final year project

hi there!

I'm from department of electrical engineering. I need to know about any site which can provide me a lot of assistance as regards to my final year project. Can anyone please give me some new idea what to select? Any sort of help or idea then please express it , please, i want to make something great.. like hardware plus software based!
here are my specifications:
i know a microcontroller 8051 assembly language
C language
and once made a project "designing microprocessor using different sets of ICs (ICs:6116,74LS245,74LS373,2716)"
little bit MATLAB

Do help me please, as I am the only person who is going to be an engineer from my family and I have no other guide . I am completely helpless.

Hi jenuine,

Be creative, just look around you to get an idea.

If i do this, i thinking about a mechanism which switches my computer to the "offical" desktop on the screen if someone opens my office door.
This morning i would be happy if i had a warning buzzer in my car which sounds if i set the winker and there is a car in the dead space of the left rear-view mirror.
Whats about a clock which only sounds the morning alarm at working days not at the weekend ? Or more sophisticated: Even not at public holidays.

Just look around and get an idea, then implement your solution in HW and/or SW. Without (extensive) guiding. Thats what your department possibly whants you to learn.

sorry couldn't reply earlier. Glad to hear from you & it was not any matter to say sorry ....you helped me in some other ways! I think I'm much interested in GPS (global positioning system). I just have basic information but I think I should start to get some core knowledge about it......but the question is: Is it a suitable project for the department of electrical...Please help me and suggest because I am much confused
