I was planning to write some article on the mobile trends on this year based on news-feed from MWC 2020 mobile event. It seems that I have to change those plans because of this news that was just published:
The GSMA, the organization behind MWC, the world’s largest mobile trade show, has announced that it is officially canceling the show.
“The GSMA has cancelled MWC Barcelona 2020 because the global concern regarding the coronavirus outbreak, travel concern and other circumstances, make it impossible for the GSMA to hold the event,”

Coronavirus Could Be The End Of China As Global Manufacturing Hub

The new coronavirus Covid-19 will end up being the final curtain on China’s nearly 30 year role as the world’s leading manufacturer.
“Using China as a hub…that model died this week, I think,” says Vladimir Signorelli, head of Bretton Woods Research, a macro investment research firm.
The most frightening aspect of this crisis is not the short-term economic damage it is causing, but the potential long-lasting disruption to supply chains, Shehzad H. Qazi, the managing director of China Beige Book, wrote in Barron’s on Friday.
Enter the mysterious coronavirus, believed to have come from a species of bat in Wuhan, and anyone who wanted to wait out Trump is now forced to reconsider their decade long dependence on China.

How to work during a pandemic
https://techcrunch.com/2020/03/01/how-to-work-during-a-pandemic/?tpcc=ECFB2020
The world is bracing for the seemingly inevitable proliferation of SARS-COV-12, also known as COVID-19 and coronavirus, which has already paralyzed cities and isolated millions. In the U.S., especially the nonstop work culture in startups, we tend to think we’re immune to such things and carry on business as usual. We are not only deluding ourselves but putting others in danger
1. Take reasonable precautions and be transparent
The CDC says that good self hygiene and frequent hand-washing are the best ways to prevent the spread of the virus.
2. Don’t question precautions taken by others
A lot of things are going to go wrong over the next few weeks. Major events have already been canceled and no doubt many face-to-face meetings are being skipped out on. That sucks — but limit your judgment of the people making those decisions.
If someone doesn’t want to shake hands or fist bump, that’s OK. If someone wants to meet by video instead of the coffee shop, that’s OK. If someone leaves work early because they get freaked out, that’s OK.
3. Take the loss
This is going to cost you money, time, and opportunity. Meetings will be delayed, which will eat up overhead. Promised dates for products and services will come and go and your company will not meet them. Information you need won’t be available until it’s too late. It’s going to hurt!
Just remember: You’re not the only person or company it’s happening to. Everyone is taking a hit on this one.
4. Evolve and interrogate your process
If these events, or others like them, are seriously affecting your productivity or the ability of your company to function, maybe you should think about that a bit. What are you unable to do — specifically? What’s stopping you — specifically?
5. Remember that it’s not just you
What’s happening right now is a global issue of great complexity and with far-reaching effects. The things happening to you and your company are a very small part of it.

CBS Shuts `Amazing Race’ Production On Novel Coronavirus Worries

CBS today announced it has temporarily halted filming of Season 33 of its hit reality show The Amazing Race out of concerns about the worldwide outbreak of the novel coronavirus, which has sickened people on every continent except Antarctica.

China’s Coronavirus Recoveries Surpass New Infections, But Europe’s Outbreak Worrisome
http://on.forbes.com/61861W2TC
If China can be trusted and if the World Health Organization is correct, then it seems as if the outbreak has plateaued, at least in Hubei province, where over 93% of all cases and deaths have occurred.
But the bigger problem now is the European Union. Due to lackluster travel restrictions and northern Italy’s mid-February Battle of the Oranges festival, which ended up being a superspreader event for those infected, Italy is home to the highest death toll from Covid-19 after China and Iran.
The outbreak, which spread fast in Italy last weekend, has infected 1,694 in Italy, 130 in France and another 130 in Germany. On February 24, both France and Germany said there was no reason to restrict travel to their country from Italy. Their case load tripled within about 72 hours.
Little is known about the virus. It is believed to have come from a species of bat that infected humans in Wuhan, the capital city of Hubei. Other concerns are that it escaped a virology lab in the city, something China denies.

An increasing number of sectors and countries are experiencing sudden-stop dynamics as the economic effects of the coronavirus spread more widely around the world. Both demand and supply are being hit hard and in multiple ways. For example, News Corp., the owner of the Wall Street Journal, banned nonessential travel for its employees this weekend; more conferences are being cancelled around the world; airlines are reducing flights; and companies are asking employees to work from home.

They are, however, a useful tool for doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals who are consistently in close proximity to infected individuals. So, to prevent vital medical resources from running dry, the Surgeon General, Dr Jerome M Adams, has warned against rushing out to buy face masks.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has advised people to use contactless technology instead of cash as banknotes may be spreading coronavirus.
The infectious COVID-19 virus could be carried on the surface of banknotes for several days, the WHO warned on Monday night.
Last month banks in China and Korea began disinfecting and isolating used banknotes as part of efforts to stem the spread of the deadly virus
Ultraviolet light or high temperature is being used to disinfect and sterilise banknotes, before the cash is sealed and stored for up to 14 days before being recirculated, China’s central bank said at a press conference.

Make Your Own Hand Sanitizer At Home When It’s Sold Out Everywhere
http://on.forbes.com/61871oAcZ
Some facts: First, the N95 mask is mainly for use if you already have the virus to keep it from spreading and many have argued that coronavirus is smaller than the 0.3 micron filter rating of the mask and thus, not that helpful, for people outside of healthcare. In fact, the U.S. Surgeon General wants consumers to stop buying masks.
Second, the Center for Disease and Prevention (CDC) states that washing your hands with soap and water is superior to alcohol-based hand sanitizers. However, that has not stopped the near-panic rushes on Costco, Walmart, and Amazon. Pretty much every store is sold out of the gel-based hand sanitizers.
If you can find the ingredients, that is. Aloe gel and isopropyl alcohol are pretty much all there is to it. These were both sold out at stores as well. The ratio is roughly two-thirds cup of rubbing alcohol and one-third cup aloe vera gel, but many of the gels are already made with 60 percent alcohol solutions in them
But for the Coronavirus, I’m sticking with the CDC recommendation to make sure you meet or exceed 60 percent alcohol solutions in your hand sanitizer (most do). You can read the CDC: Show Me the Science – When & How to Use Hand Sanitizer in Community Settings.
