Microsoft has been calling Windows 10 ‘the last version of Windows’ for many years.
But now based on current published information on-line that there will be a new Windows version coming, maybe with name Windows 11 or similar. One fact is that Microsoft is having a Windows release event soon that starts at 11AM ET on June 24th. It is expected that Microsoft to reveal its next generation of Windows on June 24th.
The Verge reports that Microsoft is back teasing Windows 11 again. Microsoft teases new Windows 11 startup sound with 11-minute video. Microsoft’s event invite even appears to tease a new Windows logo.
There is a lot of speculation around the release as to whether there will be an update to Windows 11 or 10 or something else. Microsoft has been teasing a “next generation” of Windows for months now, but new hints suggest the company isn’t just preparing an update to its existing Windows 10 software, but a new, numbered version of the operating system: Windows 11.
Windows 11? Microsoft To Host ‘What’s Next For Windows’ Event On June 24 with the following logo in invitation
Expected changes:
Microsoft is expected to detail its next significant changes to Windows, and they will likely include a number of visual enhancements. Windows 10X has been killed and the company is now rolling the visual elements of Windows 10X into the main version of Windows 10 instead.
If Microsoft is truly readying to move beyond Windows 10 and towards Windows 11, we’re expecting to see big visual changes to reflect that. Microsoft has been working on something codenamed Sun Valley, which the company has referred to as a “sweeping visual rejuvenation of Windows.”
Nadella has promised a better economy for developers and creators within Windows itself.
New evidence Microsoft is working on an Android emulator for Windows 11. Microsoft’s Windows 11, or why Redmond ever left plans to call a new generation of Windows, is gaining support for Android apps. Users of the new Windows may be able to run Android applications on their operating system if the work of Hideyuki Naganen, who works as the boss of the software side, ends up in the final version. Nagase is currently preparing the Android emulator for Windows Subsystem for Linux compatibility. Microsoft’s Your Phone app already allows you to run Android apps on Windows, but at least for now, it only works on select Samsung Galaxy smartphones.

Microsoft says it will stop supporting Windows 10 in 2025, as it prepares to unveil a major revamp of its Windows operating system later this month. When Windows 10 was launched, Microsoft said it was intended to be the final version of the operating system. But from 14 October 2025, there will be no new updates or security fixes for either the Home or Pro versions. And Microsoft says its successor will represent one of the “most significant updates” to the OS in the past decade. Its predecessor, Windows 7, was retired in 2020, although businesses could pay Microsoft to continue receiving updates for Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Enterprise.

And Microsoft says its successor will represent one of the “most significant updates” to the OS in the past decade.
Its predecessor, Windows 7, was retired in 2020, although businesses could pay Microsoft to continue receiving updates for Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Enterprise.
Windows 10 was released in July 2015 and dubbed “Windows as a service”, which meant the software was gradually updated at no extra charge, rather than the company releasing a new version of its OS every few years.
Mr Nadella and chief product officer Panos Panay will launch the new OS at a virtual event on 24 June, with Microsoft now facing stiff competition not just from Apple but also from Google.
While PC sales still dominate – 79.4 million shipped in 2020, according to Gartner – Google’s alternative is proving popular, with 11.7 million Chromebooks, which run on Google’s Chrome OS, shipping in the same timeframe.
Some commentators suggest the new OS will be given a name rather than numbered 11.

Windows 10’s one billion users need to listen up because Microsoft has confirmed seven serious threats to the operating system and warned users to upgrade.
Microsoft used its Windows 10 June ‘Patch Tuesday’ release to reveal the vulnerabilities, all of which are ‘zero day’ threats. That means they are actively being used by hackers to break into Windows 10 computers in targeted attacks.

Ahead of Microsoft’s event to unveil the next gen of Windows, a Windows 11 build leaks, showing a revamped UI, like a new taskbar with centered app icons, more — Screenshots have leaked online — Screenshots of Microsoft’s upcoming Windows 11 operating system have appeared online today.
Windows 11 leak reveals new UI, Start menu, and more
The next version of Windows has leaked online
https://www.theverge.com/2021/6/15/22535123/microsoft-windows-11-leak-screenshots-start-menu?scrolla=5eb6d68b7fedc32c19ef33b4
Microsoft’s upcoming Windows 11 operating system has leaked online today. After screenshots were first published at Chinese site Baidu, the entire Windows 11 OS has appeared online, complete with a new user interface, Start menu, and lots more.
The new Windows 11 user interface and Start menu look very similar to what was originally found in Windows 10X. Microsoft had been simplifying Windows for dual-screen devices, before canceling this project in favor of Windows 11. Visually, the biggest changes you’ll notice can be found along the taskbar. Microsoft has centered the app icons here, cleaned up the tray area, and included a new Start button and menu.
This updated Start menu is a simplified version of what currently exists in Windows 10, without Live Tiles. It includes pinned apps, recent files, and the ability to quickly shut down or restart Windows 11 devices. It’s really a lot more simplified than what exists in Windows 10 today.
Microsoft is also using rounded corners throughout Windows 11. These are visible in context menus, and around apps and the File Explorer.
As this is clearly a very early version of Windows 11, the widgets aren’t loading fully in the OS, but they’re designed to slide out and provide quick access to news, weather, and other web content.
While Microsoft canceled its Windows 10X operating system, the company is clearly reusing large parts of that work with Windows 11. Windows 10X was originally designed for dual-screen devices, before shifting toward traditional laptops and then being canceled. Windows 10X included a number of refined and simplified aspects to Windows, and most of that work is present in this leaked version of Windows 11.
Windows 11 also includes new snap controls that you can access from the maximize button on all apps. They’re modern equivalents of the cascade windows function that has existed in the operating system for years. You can quickly snap windows side by side, or arrange them in sections on your desktop.
Unfortunately, there don’t seem to be big updates to the Windows Store yet. As this is an early leaked version, it’s likely that whatever updates Microsoft is planning just aren’t showing up yet.
Microsoft has reportedly been working on a new app store for Windows in recent months, and rumors suggest it will be a big change from what exists today. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has promised to “unlock greater economic opportunity for developers and creators” with Windows, and that will likely come in the form of a new store.
Elsewhere, Microsoft has also included a new setup experience in Windows 11. It’s very similar to Windows 10X, walking users of new hardware or those upgrading to Windows 11 through a set of steps to configure Windows. This out-of-box experience also includes a new Windows 11 startup sound, which then triggers at every boot.
Microsoft is also improving the Xbox experience in Windows 11. The new Xbox app is now integrated into Windows 11, offering quick access to Xbox Game Pass games, the social parts of Xbox network, and the Xbox store. The Xbox Game Bar and Windows Game Mode all remain the same as Windows 10 in this early leaked build.
Microsoft has been dropping hints that it’s ready to launch Windows 11. The software giant is holding a special Windows event to reveal its next OS on June 24th. The event starts at 11AM ET, and the event invite includes a window that creates a shadow with an outline that looks like the number 11.

Few people have any massive expectations for Windows 11, with the OS initially appearing to simply be a rebranded Windows 10 21H2.
The updates to the operating system may however be more than skin-deep, going by the results of a number of benchmarks performed by YouTuber Ben Anonymous.
He claims to have an official version of the leaked operating system running Windows 11 Pro, and his benchmarks, compared to Windows 10, shows consistent significant performance improvements.

What you need to know
An alleged copy of Microsoft’s next-gen OS leaked to a public forum earlier this week.
The unapproved release confirmed the name ‘Windows 11,’ which is all over the OS.
Some conspiracy theorists doubted the leak’s legitimacy, thinking it is a diversion or was done on purpose.
Microsoft is now issuing DMCA complaints to sites “distributing Windows 11 ISO (copyrighted to Microsoft)”, appearing to confirm its authenticity and the name of the OS.
